Privacy Policy — Detective of Near Fortunes
Effective date: 16.02.2026
Last updated: 25.02.2026
This Privacy Policy explains how IIKKO KUUSELA ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and otherwise processes information when you use Detective of Near Fortunes (the "Game") and related services (together, the "Service").
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Controller / Responsible entity: Iikko Kuusela
Address: Joukolantie 7 as 4, Helsinki, FINLAND
Privacy contact: iikko.kuusela@gmail.com
Support contact: iikko.kuusela@gmail.com
2. What information we collect
A. Information you provide
Because the Game is guest-only, we do not require you to create an account. You may still provide information if you contact support:
- Support communications: the contents of your message and any attachments you choose to send (e.g., screenshots).
B. Information we collect automatically
We collect certain information automatically when you use the Service:
- Device and app information: device model, operating system version, language, country/region, app version.
- Identifiers: IP address and device/app identifiers used to operate analytics and keep the Service reliable.
- Usage and gameplay events: how you interact with the Game (e.g., feature usage, session activity), which helps us improve performance and gameplay.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA): if you grant permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, we may collect your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. If you decline, we use only privacy-preserving aggregated measurement (SKAdNetwork) instead.
C. Location information (core gameplay feature)
Detective of Near Fortunes is a true location mystery game. To provide location-based gameplay, the Game requests access to precise location (GPS).
- How location is used: We use your precise location to power location-based gameplay (for example, showing nearby mysteries and validating proximity for gameplay actions).
- How it is processed: Your precise location is processed on your device and also sent to our servers to deliver location-based features (for example, to request nearby game content or validate gameplay actions).
- Storage: We do not store your precise location history (i.e., we do not keep a timeline of where you have been). We process location to provide the Service and may retain only temporary technical logs as needed for security and reliability.
D. Microphone (optional feature)
If you enable audio-based interactions, the Game may request access to the microphone.
- Purpose: to support audio interaction features in the Game.
- Optional: microphone access is optional, and the Game should remain usable without it (except for the audio feature itself).
- We do not use the microphone for advertising.
E. Firebase Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how players use the Game and to improve performance and gameplay. Firebase may collect device and app information, identifiers, and usage events to provide analytics services.
F. Meta (Facebook) SDK — advertising attribution
We use the Meta SDK (provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. The Meta SDK may collect:
- App events: installs, app sessions, and in-app actions used purely for ad attribution and campaign measurement.
- Device information: device type, operating system, and IP address.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA): only if you grant tracking permission via the ATT prompt (see section 7B). If you decline, only aggregated campaign data (via Apple's SKAdNetwork) is shared with Meta.
Meta's use of data it receives is governed by Meta's Data Policy.
G. Google Ads On-Device Conversion Measurement
We use the Google Ads On-Device Conversion Measurement SDK (provided by Google LLC) to understand which advertising campaigns bring new players to the Game. All measurement processing occurs on your device:
- Device signals: de-identified, temporary signals derived from device attributes (such as IP-address-based attributes) are processed on-device to attribute installs to advertising campaigns.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA): if you grant tracking permission via the ATT prompt (see section 7B), the IDFA may also be used for enhanced attribution matching.
- No personally identifiable information is transmitted off-device as part of this measurement process.
Google's use of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
3. Why we use the information (purposes)
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and operate the Service — enable location-based gameplay, maintain the Service, provide features, and ensure stability.
- Improve and develop the Service — understand what works and what doesn't, fix bugs and improve performance.
- Measure advertising effectiveness — understand which campaigns bring new players to the Game, using privacy-preserving attribution (SKAdNetwork), on-device conversion measurement (Google Ads), or, with your consent, IDFA-based attribution via Meta SDK.
- Security and integrity — detect and prevent abuse and technical misuse, protect the Service and our players.
- Support — respond to player requests and troubleshoot issues.
4. Legal bases (for EEA/UK and similar regions)
Where required by law, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (to provide the Game features you request, including location-based gameplay)
- Legitimate interests (to maintain, secure, and improve the Service; and to measure advertising effectiveness via privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork)
- Consent (for precise location, microphone, and IDFA-based advertising tracking via ATT — you can withdraw consent at any time in device settings)
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in these cases:
A. Service providers (processors)
We use vendors to help operate the Service. This includes:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Authentication, Cloud Functions, Firestore, Hosting) — for analytics, infrastructure, and app operation.
- Google LLC (Google Ads) — for advertising conversion measurement via on-device signals. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. — for advertising attribution and campaign measurement. See Meta's Data Policy.
- Mapbox — for map rendering and location services.
- ElevenLabs — for voice synthesis in audio interaction features.
B. Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- comply with law or valid legal process,
- enforce our terms and policies,
- protect the rights, property, and safety of players, ourselves, or others.
C. Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States (Google, Meta, Mapbox, ElevenLabs servers). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers (such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful mechanisms).
7. Your choices and rights
A. Device permissions
- Location: you can allow/deny location access and change it at any time in your device settings. If you deny location, key gameplay features may not work.
- Microphone (if enabled): you can allow/deny microphone access in device settings.
B. App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — advertising identifier
On iOS 14.5 and later, we ask for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before using your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) for ad attribution.
- If you allow: the IDFA may be used for personalised ad attribution via Meta and Google Ads.
- If you decline: no IDFA is collected or shared. We use only privacy-preserving aggregated measurement (Apple SKAdNetwork and Google Ads on-device signals) for advertising attribution.
- You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
C. Analytics controls (where applicable)
We use analytics to understand and improve the Game. You can contact us if you have questions about your analytics data.
D. Reset / deletion requests
Because the Game is guest-only, you can contact us at iikko.kuusela@gmail.com for data deletion requests or any other privacy questions.
8. Data retention
- Precise location: we do not store location history. Location is processed in real time for gameplay.
- Analytics data: retained according to our Firebase/Google Analytics configuration.
- Advertising attribution data: retained in accordance with Meta's and Google's data retention policies respectively. On-device conversion signals are temporary and de-identified.
- Support communications: only as long as needed to resolve the request plus a reasonable period after.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure.
10. Children
The Service is not designed for children under 16 years. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at iikko.kuusela@gmail.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, within the Game and/or by updating the "Last updated" date above).
